If you’re looking for a quality flashlight to invest in, J5 Tactical V1-Pro might be one of the best options. It’s an upgrade from the J5 Tactical, and you can tell the major difference in looks as well as features.

It’s one of the flashlights I always recommend to people who are buying one for the first time or want to upgrade from their old and dusty model. J5 Tactical Pro is quite compact, so you can easily keep a few at different places. I have one in my car, my house, and occasionally, I’d even bring one with me in my bag.

Buying a flashlight that’s reliable and long-lasting isn’t the easiest of the tasks. The market is packed with different models, features, and specifications. If you never bought a flashlight before, it’s only normal you don’t know what to look for.

Flashlights are ideal tools that come in different sizes, shapes and with different features. This means there’s a flashlight out there for everyone and everyone’s needs. However, the J5 Tactical v1-PRO isn’t your typical flashlight. If you only need a flashlight to use once a month in your garage, then I’d suggest a different model. V1-PRO is a heavy-duty flashlight, ideal for everyday use, adventures, hiking, hunting, camping, fishing, emergency situations, military operations, rescue missions, etc.

Still, let’s say you’re an average user as I am, and what the flashlight could bring you. I’ve mentioned that it’s compact, weighing at 2.4 ounces and measuring 3.7 x 1 x 1 inches. This allows you to easily carry it around in everyday life as well as when camping or hiking. What’s important to mention is that J5 V1-PRO is water and drop resistant. I know for a fact that it’s able to take a bump and drop from up to 9 feet of distance. You could even submerge the flashlight in water temporary. All this is especially useful to adventurists who need a durable and reliable flashlight with them at all times. Being that it’s as resistant, you can freely use it in the snow, rain, and all kinds of emergency situations.

J5 V1-PRO is powered by a single AA battery, much like its little brother, the J5 Tactical. However, the difference exists, and it’s one of the major reasons why we call the V1-PRO an upgrade. The J5 Tactical V1-PRO outputs 300 lumens when powered by a regular battery. Use a more powerful lithium-ion battery, and you’ll notice the output increase even more.

Its battery life is impressive and will last you about three weeks. That is if you use the flashlight every day or so, but certainly not if you have it on at all times. The best is to always have spare batteries on you for just in case. If you need to have it on constantly, the flashlight will provide about an hour of non-stop light.

Some people swear by this flashlight as a self-defense weapon, although I would argue with that a little. Surely, its case is resistant, but I’d guess you need something a bit harder if you’re going to hit someone. You can avoid hitting altogether maybe by just using the flash to blind your attacker. The 300 lumens it provides are for sure going to blind anyone in a second.

Now, to say a bit more about how it performs. My favorite thing about this flashlight is that it reaches up to 600ft. That is the length of two football fields if you ever need that big of a reach. The flashlight has an adjustable focus range that allows you to zoom in for the intense beam, or out for wider beam. V1-PRO has three light modes: high, low, and strobe. All these come in handy in different situations day to day, so it’s good to have them to rely on.

Most customers like its size and convenience. It’s easy to carry around in your pocket whenever you need it. Some experienced hunters and survivalist report that its aluminum case proved useful almost every time. Also, most of them like the fact that the light is evenly distributed and there are no spots of brighter light.

As far as what people didn’t like, there is only the matter of battery and the momentary feature. You know how some flashlights allow you to press the endcap only slightly to have a momentary light on? It’s a feature that the V1-PRO lacks and some people feel like that’s a setback. Also, customers have a fair point when it comes to the matter of battery. The flashlight uses an AA battery, but can’t output 300 lumens with it. You have the option to put a 14500 battery that is for sure able to reach the mentioned output. However, a quality 14500 battery costs a bit more and adding it would increase the overall cost of the flashlight. In my opinion, this isn’t a major problem or a setback, but rather options we have to choose from based on preference.

On that note, let’s list the pros and cons of J5 Tactical V1-PRO. This way, you’ll have a clear image of what you win and lose with this flashlight.

  • Maximum output of 300 lumens
  • Lightweight, small and compact
  • Lights up to 600 feet
  • Battery operated
  • Water-resistant
  • Drop-resistant
  • Made of aluminum

  • Batteries not included
  • No momentary light option

To sum things up, the J5 Tactical V1-PRO is one of the most versatile flashlights on the market. It provides 300 lumens, could work on two different batteries, has three modes, amazing bright light and outreach, and many more. It’s great for all people who need an EDC flashlight that’s also great to use in some situations that aren’t as common. Most people use it around the house and garage, and then take it with them camping, hunting, fishing, etc.

If you want a single quality flashlight to work flawlessly in almost all situations and weather conditions, I strongly recommend you try the J5 Tactical V1-PRO flashlight.
